Western Norway: Towns | Holidays | Attractions
The town of Stryn and surrounding area of Nordfjord is a natural wonderland of fjords, glaciers and culture. The Jostedalsbreen National Park covers some 1,310 square kilometres and takes its name from mainland Europeæs largest glacier. It is not surprising then when we tell you summer skiing, glacier walks and ice climbing are on the menu of activites available in the area. But if you do not fancy the ice there are plenty of sunny spots down by the fjord together with horse riding, cycling and fishing in the magnificent countryside.
Summer Ski
Skiing in the ountains around Stryn can often last until July or August and Stryn Summerski allows both experienced and novice winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy their sport in the summer months. The skiresort is located on, and by the Tystigen glacier, and has an altitude of 1060m -1600m above sea level. Around the resort are several summits reaching to about 1900 meters above sea level.
