The town of Haugesund on the west coast dates back to Viking times and is said to be Norway's birthplace. Sound is at the very heart of Haugesund. Stroll along the quayside and take in the fresh sea air or stop for a coffee or bite at any of Smedasundet’s many cafés and restaurants.

The main fjord region is just 20 minutes away or you can take a ferry to explore the islands or further afield take the express boat to Stavanger or Bergen. Getting around by water is as asn important part of the transport network here.
