Winter Holidays and
Family Fun
Norway has the kind of snow reports that turn its
Southern European counterparts green with envy. Yet guaranteed
snow from November to May isn't all you can look forward to. Norway is a land of genuine
breathtaking beauty. Majestic fjords, frozen lakes and gently
rounded mountains make for a setting which verges on fairytale
idyllic.
Skiing for Everyone
Resort facilities and equipment hire are nothing
short of excellent in Norway, and tuition with friendly, English
speaking instructors for adults and children of all ages is available
almost everywhere.
In many destinations, children get free lift
passes, and often free helmets too. Children have their own areas
on slopes and ski resorts provide creches and nannies. |

Ski Gautefall
If you should ski anywhere in Norway then why not in the birthpalce of skiing - Telemark. Not only does it give its name to that partuclarly type of cross country skiing but it is also a really easy place to get to.
Gautefall is the highest mountain in Telemark, 120 km from Oslo Torp airport (Ryanair) and 220km from Oslo. In its valley lies the town of Rjukan, made famous as the target of Heroes of Telemark during WW2.
Gautefall Alpine Centre offers excellent conditions for all snow lovers. Whether you prefer Telmark skiing, snowboarding, alpine or cross country skiing, there has been a massive investment to provide beginners and experienced enthusiasts, not forgetting the children, a real treat.
Norway Direct is able to offer a range of self catering traditional log cabins and apartments around Gaustablikk. View some of the accommodation on the right
or contact us here.

On or Off Piste
Business
may be booming for Norwegian ski resorts, but there is still
plenty of space for everyone – nice, wide slopes and excellent
lift capacity makes learning to ski a stress-free experience.
Off-piste there's plenty to keep the whole family
entertained. Norway's apres ski takes some beating and after
a hard day on the slopes you won't be short of places to eat
or drink. Then there's the dog sledding, toboganning, or ice
fishing, to name but a few of the activities on offer.
Alternatively
many of Norway's ski resorts are perfectly positioned should
you fancy a day trip to the magnificent fjords, or perhaps a
spot of culture and shopping in Oslo or Bergen.
And after a day in all that fresh air, why not
round the evening off with a trip to the sauna or simply relax
in front of the fireplace? Whatever your fancy, a winter holiday
in Norway will put a smile on your face.
