More About Troll Mountain
Founded in 1993, over the past 10 years Troll Mountain has grown to be an all
year adventure sport provider. We take our work seriously and aim to provide
you with quality adventure products. Our working area covers the Setesdal valley
and Sørlandet.
We also cover the counties of Rogaland, Agder, Telemark and
Vestfold. Whichever activity you select our aim will be to
provide safe, competent instruction, quality equipment, warm,
comfortable accommodation and friendly service.
 The company is fully insured and maintains high standards
of instructor training and product development. Troll Mountain
AS is owned and managed by Tim Davis and Gjertrud Forgard.
They both have over 15 years experience in outdoor education
and centre administration. Troll Mountain AS is the operating
name for the company that owns and manages the two outdoor
activity centres in the lower Setesdal Valley.
Insurance
Troll Mountain is insured for all the activities we operate. In addition it is
possible to take out individual accident insurance, for information contact
Norway Direct. We use a disclaimer on all our river-based activities. This
is an industry norm and in no way affects your rights. It provides us with
the following. A name list for our company records, insurance purposes and
for statistical analysis. We can also provide risk analysis details should
they be necessary for centralised approval.
The instructional staff.
Our Instructors are assembled from all over the world. We pride ourselves on
selecting professional and experienced staff. We have superb retention, some
of our staff have now worked with us for over 6 years. We have a multi national
staff and employ a mix of sexes and ages to give us a balanced team that
can work effectively together. We are constantly receiving positive feedback
about our staff. Our aim is to maintain these standards in the future. As
a result of this international mix we often use English as a working language.

Accommodation at the raftingsenter.
Lavvos (teepee tents) which accommodate up to 10 persons sleeping
in a cosy ring around a central fireplace. The floor is built
up so that guests sleep on a wooden platform, with woolen blankets
to provide pleasant nights sleep. It is important to bring
along sleeping bags, sleeping mats or air mattresses. For evening
sosial gatherings and meals we also have 2 large party Lavvos.
These can seat 100 and 50 persons respectively and provide
a superb atmosphere with a central fireplace and barbecue area.
Toilets, kitchens, kiosk and showers are in the service building
50 -100m away from the campground.
Setesdal Rafting Centre - Youth hostel.
Our youth hostel sleeps 70 persons in a variety of bunkroom options.
We have double rooms and family rooms sleeping from 3 – 7
persons. The youth hostel has a large self catering kitchen as
well as a comfortable dining area. Upstairs we have a sitting/TV
room that has all the facilities required for a conference group
of up to 40 persons. Alongside the youth hostel we have 6 fully
equipped cabins with beds for 30 persons. Common to both alternatives
is a large grass area for ball sports, a 12m climbing wall, sand
volleyball, trampoline, basketball, acess to the river for fishing
and swimming, barbecue area on the riverbank.
Full pension
As all our accommodation is equipped with modern
kitchen facilities many groups opt to self cater. However if
required we will provide breakfast, lunch and and evening meal
or barbecue beside the river. Please make contact with our
