 Facilities
There is small shop about 200 metres from the Site with
more shops in Risør Town. We can arrange for a “starter
package” for
food consisting of the basics, which you can order so you
have enough for your first day.
Directions
From Oslo Airport. (Torp Sandefjord) Follow the E18 all the way
about on hour 20 minutes Follow the signs for Risør Just
before the Moen shop on your left hand side. You will see a small
road. Follow the road down towards the sea. You will find the
reception area on your left hand side.
Summers
The Summers in the South of Norway are long and warm with temperatures
of over 30 degrees common place. BBQ’s and flip flops are
the norm with sandy beaches and an abundance of fresh fish just
a few feet away. Moen is the perfect Summer holiday destination
for the whole family - Dad included!
Moen or Marbella?
Moen has its own small sandy
beach with safe and clean bathing in the crystal clear
fjord water. The temperature of the water are at the moment
(September) is 22 degrees. For Stronger swimmers there
is a diving board and platform about 50 metres from the
shore.
 There
is a jetty where lots of small boats are moored. Boat rental
and fishing equipment is available for those who would
like try fishing in the salt water fjord. Cod, Pollock,
Whiting, Mackerel by the ton; Herring, Sea Trout… and
Salmon are all literally on the door step of your cabin.
For the children - in addition to the sandy
beach there is a play area… with low level trampolines
and a football pitch - great for those England v Norway
replays!
A small kiosk sells some warm food and
groceries together with fishing equipment. A sort 10 minute
walk away there is a grocery shop though please note it
is not open on Sundays!
Ice fishing
What did you do this winter? Instead of a Sunday in Argos how about
a Winters day ice fishing in Norway? Drill a hole in the ice
with a special ice drill and away you go. Fish for Cod and most
other sea fish just a few meters from your door step. What an

Skiing
Even if, like most of us in the UK, you are unfamiliar with skiing,
we can arrange trips up to the local Alpine centre which is just
about half an hour’s drive away. Here there are ski lifts
and there are various opportunities for all levels of experience
- both Cross-Country and Down Hill skiing at very reasonable
rates.
The small family run Norwegian ski centres
are less “pretentious” than many in Switzerland
and Austria. You can hire equipment and “have a go” in
a very relaxed atmosphere. Where else to get your ski on
but in the home of skiing.
Autumn & Spring
These are magical months, and beautiful too. There is plenty to
see and do. Risør is only about 10 minutes in the car and the
fishing is good too.
