Lillehammer is best known as the ski resort which hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics so successfully and the town hasn't looked back since! The town itself has a population of around 6,000 and lies at the northern end of the largest lake in Norway - Mjøsa, 160km north of Oslo.

The town's main attraction of course is it's winter sports. The Olympic Park hosts a wide range of activities and events for everyone. The nearby Hafjell Alpine Centre has all the usual facilities you would expect from a major winter sports resort including moguls jumps pipes and rails.

For the summer visitor, Maihaugen is popular attraction. This open air museum houses a collection of old buildings and a farmyard allowing you to sample Norway of old. At the centre is Garmo Stavkirkke (Garmo Stave Church) which was originally built c1150 AD.
