Getting Around by Bus

Norway's bus network is extensive and efficient with the added benefit of it being a great way to see the countryside.

Express busses link all the major towns, airports and ferry terminals. You can usually buy tickets on board though it is also possible to purchase them from bus stations and major tourist information centres. There are also good services to the rural areas.

AIRPORT BUS SERVICES

Oslo Torp (Sandefjord)
To Oslo:
This service is open to all passengers travelling to and from Sandefjord Airport Torp. Since the bus service corresponds with Ryanair's flights to and from Sandefjord Airport Torp, it will wait for Ryanair passengers in the event of any delays. The bus will leave 30 minutes after arrival. Buses leave Oslo Bus terminal (Galleri Oslo) approx. 3 hours before flight departure. The bus stops at Skøyen, Lysaker, Høvik, Asker and Drammen. The Torp Express bus service has a seating guarantee.

To Telemark:
The Telemark Express has introduced a new coach service between Telemark and Torp. The first coach arrives at Torp at 06.15 and the coach continues at hourly intervals (15 minutes over each hour) until 20.15 from Monday to friday. Reduced service at weekends. The coaches stop at the following places:
Seljord - Bø - Ulefoss - Skien - Porsgrunn - Larvik - Sandefjord - Torp - Tønsberg

Oslo Gardermoen
The SAS Airport Bus (tel 022 177 030) runs between Gardermoen and central Oslo every 15 mins Mon-Fri (journey time: 50 mins, Prices:Adults NOK 90/round trip NOK 140/senior citizens NOK45. Children with airline tickets travel free. The Airport Coach NOR-WAY Bussekspress (tel 81 54 44 44) departs every 30 mins to/from Oslo and Asker, every 15-30 mins to/from Bærum and hourly to/from Kongsvinger, Ski and Gjøvik. There are also regular routes from Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Hønefoss and Hamar. For regional bus routes, there is a bus station just south of the railway station within walking distance.

Haugesund
"The Coastbus NOR-WAY BUS" Bergen-Haugesund-Stavanger Monday-Thursday and Saturday 3 departures, Friday 5 departures, Sunday 4 departures. Timetables Tel. 52 72 16 88.

Bergen Flesland
The best way to get into center of Bergen is by the frequent bus service (Flybussen). To the airport: leaving from Radisson SAS Royal Hotel at Bryggen, via Radisson SAS Hotel Norge and the bus station (platform 17) to the airport and return (the same route). For departure times, ask the airlines or at the Tourist Information (departs ~3 times per hour, less frequently on weekends). The Bergen Card does NOT include transport from or to the airport.
