Road Tolls

Norway has more than 70 years experience in using road toll payment as a financial instrument for building bridges, tunnels and roads. During the last 20 years it has become an increasingly important way of financing road projects. In 2002 almost 27% of the total road construction budget came from toll road revenues.

The prices vary from NOK 15 to almost NOK 300,- on some roads on the west coast. Tolls can be paid either manually or at a coin machine.
