Discover Norway

Norway really is a country to be discovered!
In this section we will help you to discover this fantastic country by providing you with information, facts and figures to help you plan your trip, get here, and make the most of your trip when you arrive.

Regions of Norway

While Norway is known for its nature and fjord-lined coastline, it has more to offer than breathtaking scenery.

Norway is also about excitement, discovery and fun; walking in the footsteps of the Vikings; riding on a reindeer sleigh; hiking, biking and paragliding; or just sitting back and enjoying one of the world-class cultural events.

Friendly, down-to-earth people, unique scenery, summer nights bright as day and delightful snowy winters make Norway a very special country. In summer, there are plenty of attractions and activities to keep you busy - the unspoilt open country of the Sámi people in the north and fjords, salmon fishing and festivals in the south.

Southern Norway in particular is a great holiday centre and deserves its nickname, the Norwegian Riviera.

Discovery is just a couple of hours away.
And now it is easier, and cheaper, than ever to discover Norway for yourselves. Wth the advent of cheap flights this delightful country now competes with the more traditional holiday destinations in Europe.

There is accommodation to fit any budget. Hotels, Guest Houses, cabins or chalets, holiday homes and caravan and camp sites.

With Norway Direct you can create your own holiday, booking Car Hire, Accomodation, and Activities. Bookings are made with 10-15% deposit being paid at the time of booking and many of these offer special disconts only available from this web site.

Map Norway

What a land to discover... again and again and again.

Southern Norway
The sunny south and the Norwegian's summer playground, Vestagder and Austagder is famous for the delightful Skaggerak coast, delightful waterside towns and villages, sun and sailing.

Eastern Norway
From the bustle of capital city to wild dense forests through to the home of skiing, Eastern Norway incorporates Oslo and Telemark together with the other counties of Akershus, Østfold, Vestfold, Hedmark and Oppland.

Western Norway -
This is Fjord Country!

If there is an area which the visitor must see this is it. It truly is Norway in a Nutshell from its rocky coastline, the second city of Bergen and magnificent waterfalls, to the wild snowy plateau of Hardangervidda. And of course the fjords. Prepare to have your breath taken away with spectacles suh as Geirangerfjord and Hardangerfjord and many others.

Central Norway
North and South Trøndelag are Norway's two central counties with the city of Trondheim at their heart. The countryside here is fertile and an important area for agriculture.

North Norway
The land of the midnight sun north of the Artic Circle is a delight to discover. It is so rich natural beauty and culture. Finmark wraps itself around the tip of Sweden and Finland to touch the Russian border and here you can sample true arctic life. Here the sun will disappear in November and not return before January but despite this life is lived to the full and you can wonder at the Northern Lights as their colorful show plays across the skies for hours.

Svalbard
For the adventuruer, this arctic archipeligo is a group of islands north east of the Norwegian mainland including Spitsbergen, Nordaustlandet and Barentsøya. 60% of the land is covered by galcier.
