A Holiday in Northern Norway Will Make You Feel On Top Of The World

There are few places that you can travel to that would allow you to get as comfortably close to the top of the World, as Northern Norway.

Owing to the warming effects of the Gulf Steam, much of Northern Norway enjoys a climate that is much milder than other places in the World that share the same latitude.

This means that Northern Norway has become a popular choice for visitors to the country and it has plenty of towns and attractions to keep anyone busy.

Most of Northern Norway lies well and truly above the Arctic Circle, but as mentioned above, the climate is nothing like as inhospitable as you would expect.

There are a number of towns and small cities that are scattered along the Atlantic coast of Northern Norway and these settlements go right up to the top of the country. Hammerfest is reputed to be the World’s most northern city with a population of over 5,000 people.

Considering its position of latitude, Bodø has a considerable number of attractions to keep its visitors happy. There are a number of museums situated here. Moving further north, into Northern Norway, you will come to another charming little city called Narvik. The resorts are all fully equipped with the necessary slopes and chair lifts etcetera and there is also a cable car to take you up to Fagernesfjellet.

Tromsø is Northern Norway’s largest city. It is also home to the Arctic Cathedral, the Tromsø Botanical Garden, a Planetarium and the World’s northernmost University.

Whilst in Northern Norway, you will also have the opportunity to visit North Cape, which is the European Mainland’s most northerly point. The Alta Ice Hotel should also be visited when you are in this part of the World. Do not forget that Northern Norway provides you with a chance to visit some of the beautiful Norwegian Fjords along the coastline.

Northern Norway will provide you with an excellent opportunity to view the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. If you are lucky enough, this will be an experience that you will treasure for the rest of your life.
